Hanoi offers job opportunities to COVID-19-affected people

Unemployed people in the capital city have chances to attend job transaction sessions or access the online system of the Hanoi Employment Service Centre to seek job opportunities.

Deputy director of municipal Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Hong Dan said by the end of this year, the city People's Committee would create conditions for job seekers and recruiters to connect with each other at job transaction sessions so that the unemployed can find jobs and employers are able to hire staff who meet their production and business demands.

The department has collected information on the labour market for analysis and forecasting as well as updating employment information of the city from now until the end of 2020 for employees and recruiters, he said.
Besides organising mobile job transaction sessions, the Hanoi Employment Service Centre will hold more daily sessions at two main floors at 215 Trung Kinh Street, Cau Giay District and 144 Tran Phu Street, Ha Dong District and at other locations.
“We hope the more job transactions we have, the more employees and businesses will connect with each other. The number of people who can find jobs has shown signs of rapid recovery,” he said, hoping that the target of creating jobs for 156,000 employees in 2020 will be completed.
Mobile job transaction sessions organised in districts such as Dong Anh, Gia Lam, Long Bien, Nam Tu Liem and Tay Ho over the past time have attracted the participation of a number of businesses and brands with thousands of recruitment targets.

According to Duong Van Truong, head of Tay Ho District’s Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Division, creating jobs for local people is one of the important tasks of Tay Ho District’s authorities. The district’s Party Committee and local administration have invited 42 enterprises to join the employment transaction sessions to create job opportunities for those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, those who have land retrieved or come from near-poor households.
Many young people have joined the sessions to learn about the job market, have interviews with enterprises and hold start-up consultations with speakers, he said.
High-paid jobs
Kinh Te & Do Thi (Economic and Urban Affairs) newspaper’s reporters observed that at districts’ job transaction sessions, many businesses recruited employees in various sectors with wages ranging from VND5 million to VND7 million for part-time jobs, between VND7 million and VND10 million for stable jobs and from VND10 million to VND15 million for high-skilled workers.
Employers also provide workers with mid-shift meals, cover insurance premiums and bonuses based on sales. However, most businesses are unable to recruit enough quotas due to lack of labour supply.
Being unable to recruit enough labourers, many enterprises accepted to participate in all job transaction sessions held in Hanoi to promote their images and meet employees in person.
Le Van Anh from human resource department of Giao Hang Tiet Kiem, an e-logistic company, said she wanted to recruit 20 shippers and warehouse staff. The salary of a full-time employee is from VND9 million to VND15 million per month, depending on working schedule and conditions. Part-time employees who work 4 hours each shift will be paid VND5 million to VND7 million per month. The recruited employees will be trained with basic skills
“Recruiting workers at this time is difficult, meanwhile, the employees’ quality is not as expected,” she said.
Vu Minh, an overseas student returning from the Netherlands, said he wanted to apply for the position of head of the marketing department at a company in Tay Ho District.
He said he felt happy when young people affected by the pandemic like him have the opportunity to attend job transaction sessions while people in other countries are struggling to fight against the pandemic.
