Dengue is widespread throughout the tropics, with variations in risk influenced by rainfall, temperature and unplanned rapid urbanization.
From the outset of 2018, Hanoi has reported 955 dengue fever cases in 261 communes, wards and towns across its 30 districts, representing a 96.8% year-on-year decline, according to a report by the Hanoi Health Department.
The departmen added that 136 new dengue fever cases were detected in the city from September 17 to 23.
As the city is now in peak season for dengue fever (from September to November), localities are asked to continue taking preventive measures like cleaning up the environment and killing mosquito larvae.
Localities should continue to intensify environmental sanitation measures to actively prevent dengue epidemic, especially in the districts of Cau Giay, Dong Da, Hoang Mai , Nam Tu Liem and suburban districts of Thanh Tri, Thanh Oai, Hoai Duc, etc., the Hanoi Health Department stressed.

Dengue is widespread throughout the tropics, with variations in risk influenced by rainfall, temperature and unplanned rapid urbanization.
