Developing sustainable tourism in the age of climate change

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) held the conference entitled "Vietnam targets sustainable tourism in the era of climate change" in Hanoi on August 17 with the participation of 200 representatives from relevant agencies and many domestic and international experts.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Dang Thi Bich Lien said that Vietnam's tourism will maintain a relatively rapid pace of development, but there remain numerous challenges, particularly the competitiveness of destinations and sustainability of tourist development.
She stressed that it’s necessary to join hands among sectors and localities nationwide and tourism sector attracts and needs the widespread participation of the communities.
The sector needs to formulate effective models to encourage the participation of the whole society under the unified leadership of the State, to help increase economic efficiency and protect the natural resources and the environment, Lien added.
