Duc Giang General Hospital focuses on patient treatment

The combination of treatment, care and health recovery for patients are necessary to improve the quality of comprehensive treatment. As such, recently, besides normal treatment for patients, Duc Giang General Hospital has taken priority on caring patients.

In Hanoi, not all hospitals have a complete system of nursing system, including Nursing Department, Board of Nursing and dedicated staffs as Duc Giang General Hospital. Departments have organized staffs to take care patients in team, and patients are monitored by doctor, healthcare staff and nurse right from the beginning until discharged.

Patients under treatment are carefully monitored and fully consulted on health issues. Moreover, they are provided with their benefits and obligations. The hospital has organized a specific working schedule, so that nurses can take time to care for patients. In such way, nurses have increased time to care and consult patients, at the same time, to utilize the human resources of the nursing system in the hospital efficiently. 

Especially, Director of the Hospital Nguyen Thai Son said, the hospital frequently organizes meeting between dedicated staffs once a week, and at higher level of senior staffs once a month. 

Surveys are also conducted with regard to patient’s satisfaction and knowledge about the health issues.  In the first 9 months of 2017, the hospital has issued 190 survey forms with regard to customer’s satisfaction for 100% patients in clinical and sub-clinical departments, with a view to have timely adjustment for better serving patients. Nurses are encouraged to check on each patient’s room as often as possible to know about their conditions. Everyday, patients are informed of their medicine intakes and instruction. Besides, the hospital has used software for medicine management, which will minimize the potential loss of medicine and gaining trust from patients in medicine allocation.

Besides, the nursing department has implemented administrative reform, code of conduct for nurses, staffs at the hospital, with periodically review of performance. The nursing room has constructed and updated criteria for checking qualification, grading the working procedures, to evaluate the whole performance of nurses. Every week, the nursing department often cooperates with the infection control department to cross-check other departments on the working procedures, communication skills with patients, and other safety procedures. On the other hand, the hospital has always put priority on the way of interacting with patients, the service attitude, for which the patient satisfaction is put in the highest order. 

Moreover, the Director of Duc Giang General Hospital Nguyen Thai Son said, the hospital always focuses on training staffs. As such, staffs at the hospital are always given time to update new knowledge, trained and retrained on new working methods, new working procedures on patient treatment and care.  The hospital also cooperates with the Vietnam Association of Nursing on training nurses to improve their qualification and skills in patient treatment.
