El Nino pattern to cause warmer weather this year

According to the National Hydro-Meteorology Service, the El Nino pattern in 2015 will have a negative impact on disaster risk and hydro-meteorological changes in Vietnam, drought may be severe in some districts in southern central provinces.

These informations were announced at the conference reviewing disaster prevention initiatives in 2014 and plans for 2015 held in Da Nang city on April 22.
As predicted by international climate research centers, El Nino may last until the autumn and winter this year.

Only a few storms landed Vietnam last year but the ones that did caused flash floods in northern midland and mountainous regions, causing heavy damages to both people and assets.
Le Thanh Hai, Vice Director of the National Hydro-Meteorology Service said that due to El Nino pattern, storms and tropical depressions will occur less in 2015.
It is estimated to have from 9 to 10 hurricanes and tropical depressions on the East Coast, in which about 3 or 4 hurricanes and tropical depressions affect Vietnam. Vietnam is likely to experience more severe heat waves, rain and flooding will be less severe but more abnormal.
