Only a few storms landed Vietnam last year but the ones that did caused flash floods in northern midland and mountainous regions, causing heavy damages to both people and assets.
Le Thanh Hai, Vice Director of the National Hydro-Meteorology Service said that due to El Nino pattern, storms and tropical depressions will occur less in 2015.
It is estimated to have from 9 to 10 hurricanes and tropical depressions on the East Coast, in which about 3 or 4 hurricanes and tropical depressions affect Vietnam. Vietnam is likely to experience more severe heat waves, rain and flooding will be less severe but more abnormal.
