The Hanoi People’s Committee and the Ministry of Health have recently co-organized a conference on reviewing cooperation mechanism between the two sides.

Giving a report at the conference, the leader of the Hanoi Department of Health said that in 2017, dengue fever outbreak plagued in Hanoi with a total of 37,651 cases and seven deaths. However, with the drastic participation of the entire political system and the direction of the Ministry of Health, the epidemic was controlled in November. Besides, the city also controlled other diseases.
Since the beginning of 2018, Hanoi has proactively implemented many activities for disease prevention and control, such as launching environmental sanitation and disinfection to prevent hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) in more than 1,300 preschools, signing disease prevention commitments between the Health Department and districts, towns, etc.
Every year, Hanoi provides health checkups and treatment services for from 5.8 to 6.4 million people. In 2018, the city sets up the targets of overcoming the overloaded situation in hospitals, etc.
Besides, to improve style, service attitude of health staffs towards the satisfaction of patients, in 2017, the Health Department carried out a survey at 67 hospitals.
Especially, Hanoi has focused on managing the quality of hospitals and strengthening the application of new technologies in medical check-ups and treatment services.
So far, the capital city has recorded five hospitals implementing the autonomy mechanism, including: Hoe Nhai, Hanoi Heart, Saint Paul, Hanoi Obstetric and Hanoi Oncology. In 2018, Hanoi will have 13 additional hospitals implementing financial autonomy.
