Cooperation opportunities in various fieldsAt the meeting, the Mayor has expressed his warm welcome to the delegation from Hanoi, saying the Flag of Vietnam flying outside the City Hall is the symbol of the city’s highly appreciation to the visit, as well as the relationship between Hanoi and San Francisco in particular and people of the two countries in general. The Mayor also thanked Hanoi leaders in quickly implementing the cooperative commitments, which has been agreed by both parties during the Mayor of San Francisco visit to Hanoi in March, 2017. At the same time, the leader of San Francisco stated that the City is willing to foster ties with Hanoi across fields through the establishment of information exchange mechanism, with a view to search for opportunities in both cities, such as: trade and commerce; technology; investment, especially in real estates, infrastructure development and smart city.

After briefing on the socio-economic situation of Hanoi, the Chairman has introduced plans to improve the citizens living standard, the city’s vision on smart city and start-up environment. Mr. Chung highly regarded the advantages and potential of San Francisco in healthcare, IT and infrastructure development, especially in modern and comfort retail system. The Chairman of Hanoi and the Mayor has a frankly discussion and shared experiences on challenges and difficulties that both cities are facing during the urbanization process: infrastructure, traffic, environment and healthcare system.

Taking this opportunity, Mr. Chung has paid his gratitude to the support and warm feeling of city government for the Vietnamese community and students in the City, hoping for this support to be continued in the future.
In order to realize the cooperation programs in the coming time, the Chairman of Hanoi has proposed to the Mayor on some specific issues: education; science - technology and healthcare; trade and investment cooperation; maintaining delegation exchanges at all levels and increase cooperation in aspects in favor of San Francisco such as: high tech scientific – technology platform, IT, start-up environment, education and human resources development for Hanoi.

Concretizing, cooperating for mutual benefits
On the same day, the delegation paid a visit and worked with the Uber Group to exchange information on cooperation in the field of intelligent technology transportation in the Capital. Global Technology General Director of Thuan Pham Group introduced and presented technology and plans to participate in passenger transportation services applying information technology in Hanoi. Chairman Chung appreciated the Group's strength in applying Uber's information technology in the transport sector, which helped mobilize resources in the society to provide transportation services. Guests, contributing to solve the city's transport needs, create jobs and income for workers. Hanoi can research and apply modern technology to manage and develop traffic participation of other vehicles such as cars, motorcycles, buses and other vehicles.
At the mean time, the Chairman frankly pointed out the disadvantages that the business activities of the corporations are causing in the area such as the development of fast and uncontrolled system has caused disruptive Taxi plan of Hanoi. This has led to an increase in unregulated traffic, a direct impact on the transport infrastructure, and control of the financial obligations of the participating Uber operators and businesses in Hanoi. On that basis, Chairman Chung asked the Co-operative Group to cooperate in three specific areas: Sharing the database so that the city can manage the number of locomotives, individuals participating in the network; Coordinating data sharing to manage the income tax of the participating partners in accordance with the law; Providing and updating information and agreeing with the City on the Uber development plan to ensure that it does not disrupt traffic planning as well as the passenger transportation system in the Capital. These are also prerequisites for the Group to continue to carry out its business activities in accordance with the law.

Expressing gratitute for the City Delegation, Global Technology General Director of Thuan Pham Group has pledged to work closely with the City Government in the course of business operations, applying the technology of the Group in the field of passenger transport that will contribute to reduce traffic congestion, create more jobs and increase incomes for laborers, fulfill the financial obligations of the State according to regulations.
The visit of the high-level Hanoi's Delegation to San Francisco susessfully wrapped up, fulfilling one of the contents agreed in the spirit of the two countries' leaders. The strengths of practical cooperation on investment and trade between Vietnamese and the US's localities will be the basis for comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, which is also a new direction for the Vietnam-US development relations. At the mean time, the visit opened up a new opportunity for international cooperation to bring about practical effects for the investment, trade and tourism promotion of the Capital.
