Vietnam has now shifted its focus on renewable energy instead of hydropower and thermal power sources, which are now facing increasing difficulties due to environmental issues, stated Nguyen Van Duoc, vice chairman of the Long An People's Committee, at the ground breaking ceremony.
The construction of Europlast Long An solar power plant has significant meaning, supplying electricity to Long An province in particular and the country in general, Duoc added.
Duoc expected this solar power plant will lay the foundation for many other similar projects in Long An in the future, which is in line with the government's instruction of prioritizing renewable and clean energy. The move would minimize the risk of environmental pollution from using traditional power sources and ensure national energy security.
Earlier, construction began on two other solar power plants in Long An province, the BCG Bang Duong project in Thanh Hoa district and the TTC project in Duc Hue district.
