Excellent movies to be screened at Hanoi International Film Festival 2018
On the sidelines of the fifth Hanoi International Film Festival, the Cinema Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold four screenings for journalists.
Moviegoers will have a chance to enjoy a hundreds of films for free at the Fifth Hanoi International Film Festival, which will take place in Vietnam’s capital city from October 27 to 31.
The information was announced by the Cinema Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism at a press conference on September 17.
A host of excellent movies will be on screen for the first time and free. Among them, “A Fantastic Woman” by Chilean Director Sebastian Lelio features tolerance, acceptance, and empathy. The film won the 90th Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.
The fable and documentary film “A Ciambra” directed by Jonas Carpignano will also be screened. The film was set in Rome with all actors and actresses being amateurs. The film won the Label Europa Cinemas Award at the 71st Cannes Film Festival (May 2018) and was the representative of Italy to attend the 90th Oscars for Best Foreign Language Film Category.
Iranian film “Taste of Cherry”, which won the Cannes Film Festival’s 1997 Plame d’Or, and “The Salesman”, which was honored as the Best Screenplay award and Best Actor award will be screened at the film festival.
Meanwhile, three films made by famous director Andrzej Wajda at the film festival are Ashes and Diamonds (1958), Promised land (1975), and Tatarak (2009). They are part of the Polish cinema in focus program, and are milestones in Andrzej Wajda's career.

In 2016, the fourth Hanoi International Film Festival, which took place from November 1 to 5, featured about 550 film from over 40 countries and territories across the world.
