Addressing the opening ceremony of an exhibition themed “Vietnam’s Hoang Sa, Truong Sa – Historical and Legal Evidence” on May 12 in the central province of Thanh Hoa, Son said that the event will raise public awareness of the country’s sacred sovereignty over its sea and islands.
On display are 120 photos, maps, documents and objects which firmly prove Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa and rejects China’s allegations to the contrary, as well as its illegal sovereign claims over the two archipelagoes and other islands in the East Sea.
The exhibits include maps of Vietnam and China, published in the two countries and the West during the 16th -20th centuries, proving Hoang Sa and Truong Sa belonged to Vietnam, not China.
Minister Son said that the artifacts, collected in Vietnam and other countries over the world, will help international partners, including China, understand Vietnam’s legitimate aspirations to maintain peace and stability in the East Sea and in the region.
