Exhibition “Trio”

The “TRIO” exhibition, presenting artworks created by Le Huu Hieu, Nguyen Van The and Van Trong.

Le Huu Hieu (born 1982)
Le Huu Hieu is one of rare Vietnamese artists chosen to participate in Art Basel Miami (Florida, USA, 2016) and Florence Biennale (Italy, 2017).
At this TRIO exhibition, Hieu’s 6 large-scale abstract-expressionism paintings will be presented. Using home-made mixed materials, Le Huu Hieu has changed both artistic thinking and artwork creating: It was not merely painting yet “doing” artworks. It is improvised and instinctive and at the same time, there is also the participation of reason; it is the depiction of different feelings upon one social phenomenon or one past. For him, there is no differentiation between the signifier and the signified.
Nguyen Van The (born 1968)
Nguyen Van The is a self-learnt and abstract painter. Recently, his language of painting is more geared towards intuition, which is closer to Neo-Expressionism.
In his new paintings, their colors have been minimalized yet still impressive; his brushwork and figure-depicting are powerful and full of emotions, which express the artist’s unconscious and instincts.
Van Trong (born 1978)
Van Trong is a teacher of fine arts at a village school. He started his artistic journey with Nativism, then Fauvism and gradually found his own way: Metaphoric – Expressionism. Figures in Trong’s paintings are mostly familiar objects of rural life (buffaloes, pigs, men of straw or landscapes and people he has met).
For Trong, figures are just a means to express his inner feelings (they are often distorted or expanded). Van Trong owns a range of unique and catchy colors and they are connected by disordered and unconscious sketches. All of them created the attractiveness that is charming but not cheesy (sến) in his paintings.
The exhibition will open on 17 Nov and be on display until  17 Dec 2017 at Vicas Art Studio, 32 Hao Nam, Hanoi.
