Swiss vocalists enliven Hanoi arts scene with free concert

Sophie de Quay and Simon Jaccard will bring a musical celebration of culture, emotion, and connection to Hanoi during Balade en France et en Francophonie later this month.

THE HANOI TIMES — In honor of the International Day of Francophonie 2025, the Swiss Embassy presents the musical program "Connecting Bridges" to be performed in Hanoi by the renowned Swiss artist duo and couple Sophie de Quay and Simon Jaccard.

This event is part of a tour that will also take them to Hong Kong (China), Macau (China), Myanmar, and Laos.

On March 27, Sophie and Simon will hold a special workshop with students from the Vietnam National Academy of Music, sharing their knowledge and inspiring the next generation of artists.

On the evening of March 28, they will take center stage at the opening ceremony of the French Gastronomy Festival & Francophone 2025 (Balade en France et en Francophonie).

Later, the duo will perform the special "Bridge of Connection" concert at Thong Nhat Park on Tran Nhan Tong Street in Hai Ba Trung District. The concert, which is open to the public, promises to be an unforgettable musical experience that celebrates both the vibrant energy of pop music and the emotional intensity of its lyrics.

Sophie de Quay and Simon Jaccard have won acclaim around the world, captivating audiences with music that bridges cultural divides. Their performances aren't just concerts, but journeys through diverse landscapes of sound and story, influenced by their travels and the different cultures they've encountered.

Born in Switzerland in 1990, Sophie Loretan (Sophie de Quay) has been passionate about music since childhood. Introduced to musicals at a young age while studying in New York, she honed her skills under the tutelage of Tina Shafer, renowned coach to stars such as Céline Dion and Avril Lavigne.

Sophie's talent has taken her from solo performances to collaborations with international artists, and her ability to sing in multiple languages, including French, English Chinese, has won her a place on stages around the world, from the United States to Japan, India, and France.

In 2016, Sophie and Simon Jaccard, a gifted pianist and composer, formed the group "Sophie de Quay," fusing pop, electro, and world music to create a sound that speaks to audiences everywhere.

With over 100 performances a year, Simon has graced some of the world's most prestigious stages, including the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Olympia in Paris. Together they create an unforgettable musical experience that reflects their love of different cultures.

Sophie and Simon bring their passion, energy and beautiful voices to Hanoi to celebrate the French Gastronomy Festival & Francophone 2025, where local audiences will experience firsthand the magic of their music, a true "bridge" connecting cultures, emotions, and hearts.

The largest cultural festival outside of France will celebrate the artistic, cultural and culinary heritage of France and the French-speaking community from March 28 to 30 at Thong Nhat Park, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi.

It is open to the public and offers visitors the opportunity to discover the culture, cuisine and heritage of France and Francophone countries  through a variety of activities.
