Famous Hollywood filmmaker wants to promote image of Vietnam

Visual effects supervisor Ming Pan, of the Marvel series and many other blockbusters, plans to make a film about family history and love set in Vietnam, his native country.

Famous Hollywood visual effects (VFX) expert Ming Pan has expressed his desire to work in Vietnam's cinema and television.

This information was shared during the meeting of Ming Pan and the delegation of Mixel Media Company with the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in Hanoi this week.

Ming Pan has extensive experience in visual effects, having held key positions such as art designer, visual effects supervisor and art supervisor for many Hollywood box office hits.

In a meeting of Ming Pan and the delegation of Mixel Media Company with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's Department of International Cooperation in Hanoi this week, Ming Pan said he would like to use his advantages in VFX and the most advanced cinematographic techniques to promote Vietnamese culture, people, history and spirit worldwide.

Ming Pan believes films about history and family affection to be made in Vietnam will appeal to audiences, especially young people.

According to Mixel Media Company, co-founded by Ming Pan, with his background from the southern province of Bac Lieu and ability to capture the rapid development of the economy, Ming Pan is looking forward to using his experience and connections to promote the development of the country's film industry.

Nguyen Phuong Hoa, Director of the Department of International Cooperation, said the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism highly appreciates Ming Pan's sentiments, aspirations and wishes.

"Vietnam is always open and welcoming to international filmmakers, especially when filmmakers of Vietnamese descent return home to make films about the country," Hoa said.

As a regulator, Hoa also confirmed that the ministry will support the film team in working with provincial and city governments and agencies.
She also encouraged Ming Pan and the company to contact the Department of Cinema, the Association for the Promotion of Cinema Development of Vietnam, educational institutions such as the Vietnam University of Theater and Cinema, Ho Chi Minh Cinema Theater, domestic filmmakers and producers, and participate in activities such as film project markets, film talent training programs and festivals.

VFX expert Ming Pan (Phan Dan Sanh) has Vietnamese parents (Bac Lieu) but was born in Taiwan (China). When he was 15 years old, he moved to the US with his family to settle down.

Some notable projects that Ming Pan has participated in include a number of hit superhero movies such as Avenger: Infinity War (2018), Guardian of the Galaxy Vol 2 (2017), Doctor Strange (2016), X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), The Secret life of Walter Mitty (2013), Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (2013), Snow White and the Huntsman (2012).
