Farming technologies key to boost Gia Lai's exports
To boost farm exports to international markets, including China, Gia Lai authorities and companies will harness the use of technologies in farm production.
THE HANOI TIMES — Technologies and AI-based solutions are key to boosting the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai's exports to the consumer market of China's Guangxi Province, heard a meeting on August 18.

Nguyen Thi Diem Hang, General Director of Vinanutrifood Binh Dinh, said that innovation and technology unlock opportunities for access to international markets.
She recommended that the province develop a digital planting map, an internal governance structure, and an electronic platform for origin traceability, data management, and connecting with Chinese buyers and market regulators.
Hang also suggested upgrading crop storage and post-harvest processing, and applying digital transformation in logistics and customs to standardize paperworks and reduce waiting time for businesses.
Zhu Houyan, a representative from the Big Data Development Bureau of China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said that local companies and government agencies need to provide transparent data on farming, harvesting, processing, storing, and transporting.
Data transparency will help Vietnamese exporters cut costs, save time, and stabilize the supplies, he said.
Zhu suggested that related parties adopt AI solutions in the agriculture sector, from research to training and trade expansion.
The Chinese official promised to connect the two sides' companies and government agencies to boost Gia Lai's farm exports to the Chinese market.
At the conference, Gia Lai enterprises and Chinese companies signed seven memoranda of understanding, creating new opportunities for the province’s agricultural products to gain deeper access to the Chinese market.

According to Gia Lai's Department of Agriculture and Environment, the province has 977,000 hectares of farmland.
Of the total, over 135,000 hectares are used to plant high-quality coffee, bananas, passion fruit, sweet potatoes, and durians. The province exports around 1.3 million tons of these products to China each year.
Gia Lai has granted 248 planting area codes for some 10,000 hectares of famrland to cultivate and produce exports to the Chinese market. The province also develops 92 products under the national One Commune One Product (OCOP) program, which carry strong export potential and meet the growing demand from the Chinese market.
