Feasibility study of Laos-Vietnam railway line implemented in two years

According to the recent record signed between the transport ministry and the Korea International Co-operation Agency (KOICA), the feasibility study of a 550km-long railway line, linking Laos` Vientiane to Vung Ang in Vietnam’s central province of Ha Tinh will be deployed in two years, from December 2015 to December 2017.

The study will be conducted with a 3-million-USD ODA grant from the KOICA, aiming to prepare a master plan and provide capacity-building to the railway sectors of the two countries.

The study will be divided into three phases, including a six-month survey of the project, a one-year feasibility study and six months of completing the study.
The Vietnamese section of the railway line from Vung Ang in the central Ha Tinh province to the Viet-Laos Border Gate will be 119km long.
The railway line will be an important link to the ASEAN and the Greater Mekong River sub-region.
