First-ever paragliding festival in Ly Son island

The festival aims to provide visitors with opportunities to see the island`s beauty from above and offer a more diverse range of tourist activities.

Domestic and foreign visitors will have a chance to enjoy a paragliding festival, which to be held in Thoi Loi mountain, Ly Son island, Quang Ngai province for the first time, To Quoc newspaper reported.

The event is scheduled to be celebrated during the Ly Son Culture and Tourism Week from June 21 to 26, organized by Hanoi Paragliding Club in coordination with the Quang Ngai provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training.
It is part of the activities to mark 30 years of the re-establishment of Quang Ngai province and contributed to affirming the island sovereignty and promoting tourism.
The take-off point is located on the top of Thoi Loi mountain, Ly Son island, one of the five dormant volcanoes on the island, with a height of nearly 170m above sea level.
The festival is expected to attract 100 Vietnamese and foreign pilots, mainly from paragliding clubs across the country including Hanoi, Vietwings Hanoi, Dong Bac , News Sky, Danang and Saigon. In addition, the organizing board also sent an invitation to a number of foreign athletes from Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Indonesia and Japan.
The festival aims to provide travelers with opportunities to see the island's beauty from above and offer a more diverse range of tourist activities.
In 2018, Ly Son island welcomed more than 230,000 visitors and raking in some US$10.3 million, according to the local government.
