Innogy SE, one of the leading European energy companies under RWE Group, earned revenue of 44 billion euro (US$54.6 billion) in 2016 and caters to 23 million customers across Europe.
Previously, FPT Software acquired 100 per cent of RWE IT Slovakia and changed its name to FPT Slovakia in the first M&A deal in the history of Vietnam’s IT industry.
FPT expected that the M&A deal would enhance FPT Software's production capacity and boost a strategy to expand its presence overseas. Established in 2004, RWE IT Slovakia has more than 400 employees, mostly experts in the Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) software, specializing in supplying IT services, especially SAP and "Smart Home" solutions to its parent company.
According to FPT sources, after the deal, RWE became FPT Software's largest client in Europe, with scores of contracts worth tens of millions of US dollar over five years. FPT Software expects the agreement will help the company expand operations in various areas in Europe and beyond.
FPT Software and Airbus have recently also signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) on looking into opportunities to develop aviation technology related to Airbus’s Skywise, a new aviation data platform.
According to the LoI, FPT Software will look to create a pool of up to 500 developers and train them how to utilize Skywise in developing solutions to improve the aviation industry’s efficiency.
The training courses about Skywise will then be expanded for Airbus’s customers and Skywise users.
Furthermore, FPT Software is aiming to be a strategic partner of Airbus in consulting, developing applications and acting as a technical support and help-desk division regarding services and applications related to Skywise.
The cooperation between FPT Software and Airbus will also include topics such as provision of Application Programming Interface (API) for third parties to develop applications on Skywise, the migration of applications onto Skywise and the maintenance of Skywise applications.
The two companies also agreed to investigate how FPT Software can help develop technology services and solutions for Airbus in innovative application development, predictive maintenance applications, cloud software, data analysis, micro services/API design and development from existing components.
FPT was ranked in Top 10 most profitable companies in Vietnam Report’s Profit 500 – Top 500 Vietnamese firms with the highest profits in 2017.
FPT recorded the consolidated revenue at VND 27.3 trillion in the first eight months of 2017, increasing by 11 percent compared to 2016. Profit before tax (EBT) reached VND 2 trillion, up 16 percent year-on-year.
