French musician and singer Dorothée Hannequin, alias The Rodeo likely captivates Hanoi audiences with her smooth vocals and meaningful songs.

The special music night, featuring local bands Mac and The Odd Stones, will take place on June 21 at Polygon Music - Complex 01 in Hanoi.

The event is part of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and France.

Born and raised in France to a French father and a Vietnamese mother, Dorothée is also known as a talented actress, costume designer, and film producer.

The famous singer has performed on many major music stages around the world in tours in the US, Canada, Brazil, Korea, the EU, and most recently Taiwan (China).

In 2023, Dorothée became one of the winners of the Villa Saigon residency program of the French Institute in Vietnam.

She discovered music at 15 when she found an acoustic guitar in her uncle's attic. This magical key opened the door to the most beautiful real and imaginary journeys.

Dorotheé's music style combines pop and rock and is inspired by the Europop of the 1960s and 1970s.

The lyrics in Dorotheé's songs are said to be unique and meaningful, telling touching stories from real life. She said scientific articles or newspaper news are great sources for her creations. One of them is the song titled Que Ma Mémoire Vive or "Let my memories live forever", which is based on the story of a Canadian researcher who invented a therapy that can erase part of a person's memory.

Speaking about the tour, she said she is keen to immerse herself in local life while finding inspiration in music.

"Asia has a special place in my heart, probably because of my Vietnamese heritage," she said.

During the concerts in the country, The Rodeo will be introducing her new album called "Arlequine".

The Rodeo will perform at the Institute for Cultural Exchange with France (IDECAF) in Ho Chi Minh City on June 16, before performing at the Hoa Binh Theater in the Central Highland city of Da Lat on June 18, at the Trung Vuong Theater in the central coastal city of Danang on June 22, and ending her tour at the Hue Academy of Music in the imperial city of Hue on June 23.
