German fleeing Covid-19 quarantine center found in Hanoi

A German man must stay under quarantine until April 20, but he had run away from the center on April 12.

A German fled a quarantine center in the central province of Thanh Hoa, Vietnam before taking a train to Hanoi, but was quickly found by Hanoi police on April 14, the Voice of Vietnam reported.

Gecken Stefan, 30, was found in a hotel at 12 Hang Manh street in Hanoi’s Old Quarter and has been put under quarantine in Thach That district. Currently, the hotel has been under lockdown as a preventive measure against Covid-19.

Earlier, on April 13, the Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control in Thanh Hoa province issued an order to search for Gecken Stefan who fled the isolation center of Covid- 19 on April 12 night.

Gecken Stefan had been put in a concentrated isolation at the province’s Ham Rong Convention Center from April 6, in accordance with the Covid-19 disease prevention and control protocol.

Gecken Stefan was sampled for testing Covid-19 twice and the test result was negative for the coronavirus both times (April 6 and April 11).

He was due to stay under quarantine until April 20. However, Stefan ran away from the center on April 12.

The authorities found that Stefan bought an online train ticket and took the train from Thanh Hoa to Hanoi on April 13.
