At the State dinner on the occasion of President Truong Tan Sang`s State visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, German President Joachim Gauck had an impressive speech about his affection for Vietnam.
Opening the speech, President Gauck said that the visit of President Truong Tan Sang is a special visit, which took place right on Vietnam and Germany to celebrate 40 years of bilateral diplomatic relations.
According to President Gauck, Vietnam and Germany have a lot of common concern, such as stability and security, growth and cooperation in a globalized world. Before these challenges, Vietnam has responded with a program of ambitious reforms that is opening up the market economy, encouraging foreign investment and reform education, training and science - important steps on the road to become a modern national economy.
The German President reiterated that Germany wants to strengthen its strategic partnership with Vietnam across all fields. The visit has created a strong push to propel trade and investment relations forward – a key pillar in the countries’ strategic partnership.
Vietnamese and German leaders agreed that the two countries have favourable environment and conditions to boost trade-investment cooperation twice or three times in anticipation of the signing of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement. They concurred to facilitate investment in the fields of their strength such as the processing industry, electronics, renewable energy, infrastructure, consumption products and agro-fisheries.
The leaders agreed to develop the Vietnam – Germany University into a leading research and training center in Vietnam, meeting international standards. They will also facilitate the teaching of German and Vietnamese in the respective countries, and study the construction of high-quality vocational training centers in Vietnam. The visit demonstrates Vietnam’s proactive role and responsibilities in the international community, it enables the two countries to expand cooperation in education-training, science-technology and labour.
German leaders and experts expressed their concerns over the increasing reclamation of artificial islands in the East Sea and supported Vietnam’s viewpoint to address any disputes through peaceful means and in line with international law.
German President also praised the diverse cultures and traditions of Vietnam, expressed his wish that the culture will present more in German society. In addition, German leaders also appreciated the Vietnamese entrepreneurs for their diligence as well as their will of studying.
