The second part will comprise an improvised performance by Fly Magic and Vietnamese band JumpforJazz, providing a magical mix of energy, melancholy and urban pulse.
"We like Fly Magic's performance style. It is very distinctive," Vu Ngoc Ha, JumpforJazz's bass guitarist, said.
"I see the distinct way in which the band plays music. The musicians actively create a wide musical space. I think it will inspire us to perform with Fly Magic's musicians."
JumpforJazz was set up in 2013 with saxophonist Nguyen Bao Long, bass guitarist Vu Ngoc Ha, pianist Nguyen Huu Vuong and percussionist Hoang Ha, besides guitarist Trinh Thy San.
Fly Magic has been playing at shows all over the world, such as at New York's most famous jazz club and in festivals in Panama, Haiti, Australia and Europe.
The distinctive and warm sound of band leader Timo Vollbrecht's saxophone is inspired by the music scenes of Berlin and New York, the cities between which he commutes.
Every song creates a new universe for itself, with jazz elements merging with post rock, minimalism, new music and contemporary song culture.
Saxophonist Vollbrecht studied at the Jazz Institute of the Berlin University of the Arts, and learnt to the saxophone and composition at New York University.
He is considered one of the most important voices of German jazz, and has already won several prizes.
He has performed with internationally known musicians such as Joe Lovano, Randy Brecker and pop star Robbie Williams.
Fly Magic will perform in HCM City on January 23 at HCM City Conservatory of Music, 12 Nguyen Du street, District 1.
After the performances in Vietnam, Fly Magic will perform in Phnom Penh and Bangkok.
