Government approves 21 investment targeted programmes for next 5 years
The Government has recently issued a resolution to approve investment plans for 21 targeted programmes during the 2016-2020 period.
According to the Government resolution on a five-year investment boost, the Ministry of Investment and Planning will manage four programmes worth nearly 282 trillion VND (13 billion USD) to develop coastal infrastructure, high-tech industrial zones and border economic zones.
Under the resolution, three mega programmes covering agricultural restructuring, fisheries and forestry development and disaster prevention have been allocated 640 trillion VND (29 billion USD) in the next five years. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development was assigned to implement the three programmes.
Besides, 42 trillion VND (2 billion USD) is allocated for the Ministry of Health to develop public health care programmes at the grassroots level.
In the plan, the Ministry of Public Security will manage an investment of 9 trillion VND (414 million USD) to improve traffic safety, fire-fighting and crime prevention, including drug abuse.
According to the resolution, the plan allocates 27 trillion VND (1.2 billion USD) to the Ministry of National Defence for developing the national defence industry.

Between 2016 to 2020, the development of education in remote and mountain areas and a programme to promote vocational training and labour safety across the country have been allocated around 5 trillion VND (225 million USD) and 27 trillion VND (1.2 billion USD) respectively. The ministries of Education and Training (MoET) and Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) will manage these projects.
Others ministries including the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment; Information and Communication, and Trade and Industry will manage a total investment worth about 58.5 trillion VND (2.6 billion USD) for environmental protection, electricity supply to islands as well as rural and mountainous areas, and information technology development.
