Gov’t sets major tasks for 2014

The Government on January 2 issued Resolution 01 on major tasks and solutions guiding and directing the realization of the Plan for socio-economic development and state budget estimate in 2014.

According to Resolution 01, in 2014, the Government would focus on (1) strengthening macro-economic stability and inflation control; (2) removing difficulties to promote production and business; (3) speeding up the implementation of three strategic breakthroughs along with restructuring the national economy and renewing growth model, increasing the quality, effectiveness and competitiveness of the economy; (4) ensuring social security, social welfare and improving people’s living standards; (5) reasonably and efficiently tapping resources, protecting the environment and positively responding to climate change; (6) accelerating anti-corruption and anti-wastefulness and settling complaints and denunciations; (7) guaranteeing national defense, security, social order and safety; (8) expansion and improvement of the efficiency of diplomatic work, active international integration; and (9) continuing expansion of information dissemination for social consensus.

Based on this Resolution and relevant resolutions of the Party and the National Assembly, ministers, heads of ministerial-level agencies and Governmental bodies and Chairmen of the People’s Committees of provinces and centrally-governed cities shall quickly design, promulgate and deploy right in January their specific action programs and plans; clearly identify targets, tasks and progress, responsible units, and add them to the working programs.

Monthly or quarterly reports on the implementation of the Resolution must be sent to the Ministry of Planning and Investment prior to the 20th day of each month and of each quarter.
