PM Nguyen Tan Dung asked ministerial, local and sectorial leaders to figure out achievements and shortcomings in 2014 and propose measures and tasks for 2015.

The Government chief made the request on December 29 in Ha Noi while presiding over a video-teleconference with localities in order to implement the National Assembly’s resolutions on socio-economic development plan and State budget estimate for 2015.

Delegate listened and discussed a series of reports on socio-economic performance in December and 2014; theGovernment’s implementation of Resolution 01/NQ-CP and socio-economic development plan; and a draft report on major tasks and solutions guiding and directing the realization of the Plan for socio-economic development and state budget estimate in 2015.

Addressing the event, PM Dung said that in 2014, 13 out of the 14 set goals have been fulfilled except for the one on the proportion of trained workers. GDP growth rate touched 5.98%.

The economic restructuring, the transformation of growth model, and the business environment were improved. The positive achievements laid a favourable foundation for higher achievements to be made in 2015, said the Government leader.

The Government chief also pointed out some shortcomings and limitations in the economy including unstable macro-economy, weak competitiveness, and low domestic budget collection. Social issues like high poverty rates among ethnic minority groups, pollution, low-quality healthcare and education were concerned by the public.

PM Dung emphasized that 2015 is the final year of Viet Nam’s Five-year Plan (2011-2015) with a large number of big events to be held, especially the Party Congress at all levels.

He noted four major tasks covering the successfull realization of socio-economic development goals set by the Party Central Committee and the National Assembly for 2015 and  the Five-year Plan, the safeguarding of national sovereignty and  peaceful and stable environment in favor of national construction and development, the strengthening of foreign diplomacy and international integration and  the sound organization of the Party Congress at all levels.
