This is the theme of 2016 Hoa Phuong Do (Red Flamboyant Flower) Festival which will be organised by People`s Committee of Hai Phong northern city from May 6 - 8.
The festival programme celebrating the 61 anniversary of the liberation of Haiphong city will take place on May 7 at the municipal Theatre Square and centre area of the city.
During the fifth Hoa Phuong Do Festival, named under the most popular and symbolic flower in Hai Phong, the northern city will become vibrant again with numerous activities as well as the participation of domestic and international art groups, people and visitors.
Hoa Phuong Do Festival aims to promote the images of Hai Phong among Vietnamese people and foreigners, so as to drive the city’s socio-economic development, including tourism.
Besides the key activities, the festival will also include 61 other events on the sidelines to promote the city's tourism sector.
This year's festival will feature a carnival with the participation of arts troupes from localities across the country, the Republic of Korea, China, Laos and Thailand.
The 5th festival will have many new events compared with 2015, namely: a dove release ceremony, an orchid exhibition, street music performances, and a golf tourney.
Specially, a certificate will be presented to bestow the national intangible cultural heritage status to the festival worshipping Le Chan, a female commander during the Hai Ba Trung (Trung Sisters)’s uprising against the foreign invaders in around 40 A.D.
In addition, another certificate recognising Hai Phong’s Opera House as a national artistic and architectural relic will also be awarded.
According to the People's Committee of Hai Phong city, after 4 years of organising, Hoa Phuong Do Festival has become its cultural beauty, contributing significantly to promote image of Hai Phong city to international friends.
The festival has actually become a unique brand of the northern Hai Phong city.
