Halong Tourism Week kicks off with carnival

The thrilling and colorful yearly carnival may draw tens of thousands of local and foreign visitors to Vietnam's northern coastal city.

Halong Tourism Week 2023 will be held from April 29 to May 3, 2023, according to the Halong City People's Committee.

The Carnaval Halong Festival street parade has become the rendezvous destination of Halong vacation and art lovers.

The highlight of the event is Halong Carnival 2023, themed "The Halong Dance - In harmony with the five continents", which will be held on May 1 at 8 pm on Vo Nguyen Giap Boulevard, Bai Chay Ward, Halong City.

The 15th Halong Carnival will consist of four parts, including the opening ceremony, a main stage art performance, a street parade and a low-level fireworks display.

According to Nguyen Ngoc Son, Vice Chairman of Halong City People's Committee, Carnaval Ha Long 2023 will be a wonderful creative performance based on many themes such as history, legend, nature, and so on, showing Halong's position as a leading vibrant and exciting holiday destination in Asia.

"As an event of light, color, music, art, and cultural identity, Halong Carnival 2023 will attract about 2,000 actors, singers, dancers, musicians, folk artists and others. The street carnival will also feature dances by ethnic minorities from Quang Ninh province," he said.

According to the organizers, this year's Halong Carnival will use many modern lighting and sound technologies, making the high-tech light show and art performance an unforgettable memory for visitors to Vietnam's heritage city.

Joining the festival, tourists will have a chance to dip in the magical music background of a great musical party. The highlight of Halong Carnival is the joyful street parades with various colorful costumes and dances on the wide streets along the coast.

In addition, the festival gets more exciting with Vietnamese traditional art performances such as dragon dance, fire dance, drum dance, and fireworks show.

Along with the Carnival, Halong City will organize many cultural, artistic, sports, and tourism activities at Quang Ninh Museum, October 30 Square, and other newly established tourist attractions.

In particular, there will be a dance festival on April 29; a kite flying festival on April 30; the opening ceremony of the photo competition entitled "Ha Long - the Heritage City" on April 30; the street food and art festival on April 30, and others.

The first Halong Carnival was organized in 2006 to diversify Halong's tourism products. Since then, the biggest annual festival has become an excellent tourism product of the city.
