Hanoi children, including underprivileged children and children in special circumstances throughout the capital city had a warm and joyful Mid-Autumn Festival last weekend, with gifts and special performances.

A meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival
Full-Moon Festival was held for children nationwide, including in Hanoi. From early in the morning, foster care staff at Birla Children’s Village in Cau Giay District, Hanoi prepared fruits, and sweets and decorated the stage to organize a beautiful and interesting Full-moon Night for orphaned children.
Tran Quang Huy from House C1, Birla Children’s Village told The Hanoi Times: “After two years of hiatus because of the Covid-19 pandemic, I am very excited to attend the Full-moon banquet tonight. I love to see the lion dance performed by my brothers and sisters and receive gifts from foster care mothers.”
Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huyen said that she has been waiting for this festival for a long time. “We rehearsed the lion dance for tonight's performance and eagerly looked forward to the full-moon banquet,” she told The Hanoi Times.
Director of Birla Hanoi Children’s Village Trinh Thanh Huyen said that Birla Hanoi Children’s Village collaborated with Hong Ha Stationery Joint Stock Company to organize this meaningful Full Moon Night for orphaned children.
“The full-moon night was held in a joyful and warm atmosphere, but still ensured the prevention against the Covid-19 pandemic,” she stated.

Birla Children’s village has been providing care and support to local orphans since 1987. Children are provided with shelter, fed and clothed, and given opportunities to enter higher education or join the workforce after they turn 18.
Earlier, the Hanoi Social Protection Center Number 3 in Ba Vi District, Hanoi organized the Mid-Autumn Festival one day in advance For sixty underprivileged children. They had a chance to play folk games, watch the circus performance, had a sumptuous full-moon banquet. Children with good academic achievements also received gifts from organizers.
Director of Hanoi Social Protection Center Number 3 Tran Thi Hai shared with The Hanoi Times: “One day before the Mid-Autumn Night, we organized a big party for underprivileged children of the center and other children from Hanoi Center for Nurturing Children with Disabilities.
The party took place in a very happy atmosphere, thanks to the generosity of sponsors from local businesses and the Social Work Center and Hanoi Children’s Fund.”

Various gifts for disadvantaged children
The Hanoi No. 2 Drug Rehabilitation Center in Hanoi organized the Mid-Autumn Festival program in 2022 for 62 children in special circumstances.
Director of Hanoi No. 2 Drug Rehabilitation Center Pham Dinh Giang said: “On the occasion of the special festival for children this year, the unit has spent over VND20 million or US$850 to buy candy, toys, fruit, lantern, among others; and gifts as prizes for the winners of the drawing and writing contests.”
As usual, the Hanoi Department of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs visited and presented gifts worth VND3,000,000 or $130 to each of its eight disadvantaged children-supporting establishments on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival. These eight establishments are the Vietnam-Korea Rehabilitation Center; Hanoi Center for Nurturing Children with Disabilities; Birla Children’s Village, SOS Children’s Village, Hanoi No. 2 Drug Rehabilitation Facility, and Hanoi No.3 Social Protection Center.
Mid-Autumn Festival is a special annual event dedicated to children in Vietnam, which falls on September 10 this year. Every Vietnamese child dreams about an amazing festival with his or her own brightly lit lantern and a belly full of mooncakes. Understanding this, the government and benefactors in Hanoi have been working hard to organize the most cheerful festivals for local children for many past years.
