Hanoi always attaches importance to cooperation with Germany's localities

German Ambassador Christian Berger stressed that Germany is willing to cooperate with Hanoi in some fields, including water supply and drainage.

Hanoi always attaches importance to cooperation with Germany's localities such as Frankfurt or Munich, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said upon hosting outgoing German Ambassador to Vietnam Christian Berger in Hanoi on July 10.

Chung appreciated the contributions of the ambassador and German embassy in strengthening the friendly cooperative relations between Vietnam and Germany, creating conditions for Hanoi to connect with the German business community and establish close relations with German states and localities.

"I believe that in the time ahead, we will develop these relations more effectively, contributing to the relationship between the two countries," the mayor stressed.

Chung affirmed that the recommendations and encouragement from the embassy as well as German partners have supported Hanoi significantly to develop a civilized and modern city.

He also expressed his belief in the prospect of broader economic cooperation between Vietnam and Germany.

Referring to the idea of German House in Hanoi proposed by the German business community, Chung said that Hanoi’s authority is working on the proposal.

For his part, Ambassador Christian Berger thanked Hanoi’s leaders for creating favorable conditions so that he could fulfill the task of connecting and promoting diplomatic relations between the two countries during his tenure.

Christian Berger was impressed by Hanoi's development policies, such as carrying out the facelift in several streets, planting more trees to reduce environmental pollution. He wishes that with Hanoi’s efforts, environmental pollution will be significantly curbed in the coming time.

Ambassador Christian Berger suggested Hanoi hold a workshop with the theme "Encouraging Hanoi citizen’s participation in the decision making process" to bring the authority and the people closer together.

Hanoi should repair some degraded houses in the campus at Chu Van An  high school to preserve the capital’s architectural values, Christian Berger added.

He stressed that Germany is willing to cooperate with Hanoi in some fields, including water supply and drainage.
