Hanoi attaches importance to tapping into potential cooperation with localities of the Dominican Republic in the fields of economy, culture, society, tourism, among others, a senior Hanoi official has stated.
Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, member of the Party Central Committee and Permanent Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party's Committee made the statement at a reception for a high-level delegation of the Caribbean country's United Left Movement (MIU) Party led by its General Secretary and Cabinet Minister of the Dominican Republic Miguel Mejia on December 3.

The cooperation will contribute to strengthening the ties between the two capital cities, the MIU and the Communist Party of Vietnam as well as between Vietnam and the Dominican Republic, Hang said, believing that the two parties have maintained a good relationship for a long time.
She emphasized that relations between the two countries continue to develop in all channels, fields and the two parties’ collaborative ties are increasingly enhanced.
The Communist Party of Vietnam has always been consistent in constantly fostering friendship and solidarity with the MIU, as well as with the Dominican people, Hang stressed.
She once again affirmed that Vietnam wants the two parties to keep exchanging delegations, information, documents and cooperating closely at international and regional forums.
For his part, Miguel Mejia thanked the Hanoi Party Committee for placing the statue of Professor Juan Bosch – a writer, a thinker and the leader of the national liberation movement in Latin America and the first president of the Dominican Republic at Hoa Binh (Peace) Park in Hanoi.
Miguel Mejia also expressed the Dominican Republic’s honor to build a monument of President Ho Chi Minh in the capital city of Santo Domingo.
On this occasion, Miguel Mejia expressed his wish to establish a twinning relationship between Hanoi city and a city of the Dominican Republic, and invited Hang to visit Dominica next year.
