Hanoi Collective Orchestra to perform improvised work

An improvised orchestra performance by the Hanoi Collective Orchestra with the participation of the audience will take place at 5pm on September 17 in Hanoi.

The Hanoi Collective Orchestra is part of the Ensembles Asia Orchestra, a project launched in 2014 by the Japan Foundation with musician Otomo Yoshihide. The aim of the project is to create a free-form orchestra for non-professional musicians.
After arriving in Hanoi, Otomo Yoshihide (musician), Fuji Hiroshi (artist) and six university students from Tohoku area will search for material from daily life in Hanoi to write new music.

The musical score won't be used at the performance. The sound will depend on feelings, relationships and conversations among participants, who have never learned to play an instrument.
Before the performance, there will be a workshop to teach participants how to create and use the music instruments at 2pm.
The event is being organised by the Japan Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam, at 27 Quang Trung street. Admission is free for all visitors.
