The capital will raise the standard of job fairs and provide a trusted channel between employers and job seekers.
In the first half of this year, Hanoi created jobs for 124,900 workers, exceeding the annual plan by 75.7% and increasing by 10% over the same period in 2023, according to the city's Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.
The department's Deputy Director, Nguyen Hong Dan, said the city authorities had disbursed a total of VND2.1 trillion (US$82.3 million) through the Hanoi branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) to provide loans to needy people and welfare recipients, besides creating jobs for 37,300 workers.
As many as 35,900 people have received assistance worth a total of VND1.08 trillion ($42.4 million) from the city's unemployment insurance fund. Meanwhile, nearly VND1.5 billion ($58,935) was allocated to support vocational training for 385 workers.

Amid challenging labor market conditions, the Hanoi government has taken a number of initiatives to expand the labor market and create jobs for the redundant. In the first nine months, nearly 2,200 people were sent on temporary contracts to work in South Korea, Taiwan (China), and Japan, according to Dan.
To ensure the set targets for job creation, the department has studied the current labor market situation, development trends, and economic impact in the coming period to assess and predict scenarios accurately.
The deputy director emphasized that the agency has taken steps to exceed its goal of helping some 120,000 workers find jobs this year.
"We will continue to find suitable solutions to ensure employment for all working-age people," he said. It is predicted that workers in Hanoi will have easy access to seasonal job opportunities in craft villages in the period leading up to the Lunar New Year 2025," Dan said.
Over the first half of the year, the Hanoi Employment Service Center, under the Hanoi Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, held about 190 job fairs with the participation of 5,500 agencies and enterprises. Of the total job seekers, nearly 39,000 were interviewed and another 12,000 were hired.
To create more jobs, the Hanoi People's Committee and the city's Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs will continue connecting labor supply and demand in various ways. The city will gradually improve the quality of job fairs and create a reliable bridge between job seekers and providers.
Bui Thanh Tung, CEO of Teknix Technology JSC, told The Hanoi Times that the festival helped employers promote their brands and strengthen connections between universities, companies, and students.
"With the current technology boom, we strive to become a leader in technology solutions. To realize this dream, we need young people from Generation Z. We want to open up new career opportunities for the young generation, especially those who love technology," said Tung.
