The Party organization, government, people, and armed forces of the Hanoi deeply mourn Comrade Tran Duc Luong, former Politburo member and former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Throughout more than 65 years of Party membership, in every position he held, Comrade Tran Duc Luong consistently exemplified the pioneering spirit and integrity of a loyal Party member, dedicated to the Party, the Fatherland, and wholeheartedly committed to the revolutionary cause of our Party and nation. He successfully fulfilled all responsibilities entrusted to him, worthy of the trust placed in him by the Party, the State, and the People.

He made tremendous contributions in both domestic and foreign affairs, helping maintain political stability, promote economic development, and enhance Vietnam’s international standing during a pivotal period when the country was implementing bold reforms, transitioning from a centrally planned economy to a socialist-oriented market economy.

His passing is an immeasurable loss for the Party organization, government, people, and armed forces of Hanoi, as well as for the entire nation.

The Party, government, people, and armed forces of the capital pledge to remain united, determined, and steadfast on the revolutionary path, upholding the ideals of the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, our predecessors, and Comrade Tran Duc Luong. We are resolved to build a prosperous, democratic, civilized, and happy Vietnam, and to develop Hanoi into a cultured, modern, and advanced capital, worthy of being the heart of the nation.
