With the new election, the Hanoi People's Committee has one chairman and six chairpersons for the 2021-26 term.
The Hanoi People’s Council has elected five new deputy chairmen of the municipal government for the next five years as the city reshuffles its high-ranking personnel.

The new chairmen, who were elected on December 9 at a meeting by the municipal People’s Council, include Duong Duc Tuan, Ha Minh Hai, Chu Xuan Dung, Nguyen Trong Dong, and Nguyen Manh Quyen.
Speaking at the opening speech of the three-day meeting on December 7, the city’s Party Chief Vuong Dinh Hue said the election has followed five-step procedures to select the qualified candidates for the position.
He said the deputy chairmen are expected to assume responsibility for general economics; specialized economics; planning, architecture, construction, and urban management; socio-culture, natural resources and environment; and resolving complaint and denunciation.
With the new election, the Hanoi People’s Committee has one chairman and six chairpersons for the 2016-20 term, including the five aforementioned and Mr. Le Hong Son, former deputy minister of Justice, who has taken the post since 2014.
Mr. Duong Duc Tuan, party chief of Hoan Kiem district’s Party Committee, a 53-year-old architect born in the northern province of Hung Yen, held the post of deputy director of the municipal Department of Planning and Architecture, and chairman of Hoan Kiem district People’s Committee.
Mr. Ha Minh Hai, party chief of Dong Da district’s Party Committee, 51, from the central province of Thanh Hoa, was head of the Hanoi Tax Department and director of the municipal Department of Finance.
Mr. Chu Xuan Dung, director of the municipal Department of Education and Training, a 47-year-old doctor of education born in Hanoi was principal of Pham Hong Thai High School and Chu Van An High School, and deputy director of the Department of Education and Training.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Dong, director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, 51, an environment engineer born in Hanoi, was deputy director of the municipal Department of Natural Resources and Environment and deputy chief of Long Bien district’s Party Committee.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Quyen, director of the Department of Planning and Investment, a 45-year-old Hanoian, held the position of deputy director of the Department of Planning and Investment, chief of Quoc Oai district’s Party Committee and chairman of Quoc Oai district People’s Committe.
At today’s meeting, the People’s Council passed the dismissal of five deputy chairmen namely Nguyen Van Suu, Nguyen Quoc Hung, Ngo Van Quy, and Nguyen The Hung, and Nguyen Doan Toan, who has been appointed as head of the city’s Mass Mobilization Commission.
