On Sep 20, Chairman of Hanoi’s People Committee Nguyen Duc Chung met Thomas Egebo, Permanent Secretary, Danish Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Climate, along with Danish Ambassador to Vietnam, Charlotte Laursen and related cadres from Denmark’s Embassy in Hanoi and Hanoi’s People Committee.
At the meeting, Chairman of Hanoi’s People Committee affirmed the honor off Hanoi city as well as Vietnam to Denmark’s support. During 30 years of innovative and development, Vietnam receive remarkable ODA from Denmark. The development cooperation between two countries keeps booming, especially in energy, waterr supply and education.
During the dicussion, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung briefted master plan of Hanoi including three break-through phases: High quality human resources, Infrastructure Improvement and Administration reform. Especially, in Infrastructure improvement, it’s first priority of the city to innovate and add more faciliations of energy and clean water supply.
According to the plan, by 2020, Hanoi sets the target of clean water system (Europe standard) for all the household in city and nearby districts, towns and at the same time, enhance the human resources in energy sector. To achieve all the above targets, Hanoi authority currently calls for constructing four zones of processing garbage to generate energy, as well as establishing light system which is energy-saving or runs on renewable energy in the city.
During the past time, Danish enterprises have positively attended the investment market in Vietnam, as well as Hanoi; especially of sewage, salty water solution, green energy development aim to sustainable development…, the Chairman pressed. Therefore, he is in high hope that, via the visit of Thomas Egebo, Permanent Secretary, Danish Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Climate; those bilateral cooperation would expand and go more into reality.
Agreeing with proposals from Chairman of Hanoi’s People Committee, Permanent Secretary Thomas Egebo asserted, Denmark with streghths of energy, clean water… would be willing to support Hanoi in related fields.
On this occasion, Mr Thomas Egebo mentioned that Denmark’s Embassy in Hanoi had the innitiative of holding the conference about sustainable solution for Hanoi in the next December and they wanted to consult the municipal thinkings.
Besides, Denmark government also expect Hanoi would attend some innitiative of sustainable development lead by Denmark such as “P4G - Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030” and Ministerial Meeting of Clean Energy with North European countries and European Commissioner in 2018.
Thanks for all the information and suggestions from the Danish Permanent Secretary, on behalf of Hanoi authority, Chairman of Hanoi’s People Committee expressed his agreement and desire to attend all the mentioned activites as well as further cooperation between Hanoi and Denmark.
