The heavy downpours submerged many streets in Hanoi and turned life up-side-down, haunting the capital’s residents with the dreaded images of stuck vehicles and streets under water.
Torrential rains on April 29 night and the following morning flooded Hanoi, causing major traffic chaos and leaving low-lying areas submerged for hours, local media reported.
The heavy downpours submerged many streets in Hanoi 30-40cm under water and turned life up-side-down, haunting the capital’s residents with the dreaded images of stuck vehicles and flooded streets.
A familiar scene also played out in Hanoi. Most of the streets were deep under water across the city, especially Ta Hien and Luong Ngoc Quyen streets in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, Hoa Bang street (Cau Giay district), Vu Trong Phung street (Thanh Xuan district), Dang Van Ngu street (Dong Da district).
According to the Weather Forecast Office under the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF), there will be a widespread rainstorm in Hanoi and northern provinces today, with the rainfall of 30-60 mm/24 hours or even over 80 mm/24 hours.
There will appear whirlwinds, lightning, hail and strong winds, the NCHMF forecast.
