Hanoi, FPT break ground on digital technology park to drive innovation-led growth

Hanoi has moved to accelerate its transition toward a knowledge-based economy by launching a large digital technology park designed to support innovation, attract talent and promote sustainable development.

THE HANOI TIMES — The Hanoi administration and tech giant FPT Corporation on January 16 broke ground on a digital technology and mixed-use park project aimed at creating new growth hubs driven by science, technology and innovation.

Covering nearly 197 hectares in Tay Tuu and Phu Dien wards, the project follows green building standards and places strong emphasis on sustainability.

It will create an integrated “Work – Live – Innovate” environment that brings together workplaces, residential areas and innovation activities.

At the heart of the project is a concentrated digital technology park spanning about 170 hectares, dedicated to innovation and digital transformation.

The remaining area will function as an open park with internal transport infrastructure, green spaces and water features, providing a high-quality environment for work, research and daily life.

The project will be implemented from 2026 to 2031, with the first phase scheduled to enter operation in 2027. FPT Corporation will serve as the project’s investor.

The development aligns with the Politburo’s Resolution No. 15, which seeks to build Hanoi into a major national center for the economy, culture, education and training, science and technology and international integration, with rapid and sustainable growth and strong nationwide spillover effects.

It also contributes to implementing the Politburo’s Resolution No. 57, which identifies science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation as decisive drivers of Vietnam’s prosperity and strength in the new era.

The launch of the digital technology and mixed-use park will reinforce Hanoi’s role as the country’s political and administrative center in the long term.

It will also help position the capital as a national leader in science, technology and innovation, as well as a hub for policy development, technology piloting, talent training and idea incubation.

Truong Viet Dung, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, said the city considers the digital technology park a core nucleus of Hanoi’s innovation ecosystem, aligned with the goal of making the capital a major national hub for science, technology and the digital economy.

He said the city expects the investor to fully leverage its capacity, experience and reputation to deliver the project in line with approved plans, ensure quality and efficiency, comply with regulations and make a meaningful contribution to Hanoi’s sustainable development and long-term master plan.

Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT Corporation, said the park will attract technology talent, connect research, training and businesses and operate as an innovation hub linked to strategic technologies.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held in celebration of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
