Hanoi handovered 161 cherry trees from Japan’s Fukushima city

Hanoi held a ceremony at Thang Long Citadel Complex on November 24 to receive from the friendship association in Japan’s Fukushima city.

On the occasion of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23) and key events of Hanoi in 2015, the friendship association in Japan’s Fukushima city handovered 161 trees cherry to the city.

The trees will be planted at several locations across Hanoi, including Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the spiral-shaped Co Loa citadel, Hanoi Museum and Hoa Binh Park.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture & Sport Truong Minh Tien said, the presence of trees cherry, the renowned Japanese symbol in the capital city is expected to bring Japan’s culture closer to locals, and strenghthen ties between Hanoi and Fukushima.
