The case is a 23-year-old man from the southern province of Ba Ria Vung Tau and is currently residing at No.58B Ba Trieu street in Hoan Kiem district of Hanoi.
The man returned from Russia on August 10 and was put under quarantine in Hai Duong province upon arrival. He shared a room with Patient No.1034, who tested positive for Covid-19 on August 25.
After his quarantine ended on August 25, he stayed in Hoan Kiem district while waiting to board a train to return to his hometown. However, after his roommate had a positive test result, he was once more put under quarantine in Nam Tu Liem district.
On August 28, he tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 by the Hanoi Center for Disease Control and is being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Dong Anh district, Hanoi.
Regarding the case, three people who made close contact with him (F1) have been quarantined and sampled for Covid-19 testing.
His room mate at the isolation center, Patient No.1034, a 34-year-old man, returned from Russia on August 11 on flight VN5062 and was put under quarantine immediately after entering Hai Duong province. His test results on August 13 were negative for coronavirus. However, his second testing on August 25 returned positive result.
Also on Friday, Danang reported one locally-transmitted Covid-19 case. Meanwhile, 26 people were given the all-clear.
At the time of writing, Vietnam has reported 1,038 infections, including 698 locally transmitted ones. A total of 549 cases have been linked to the disease resurgence in Danang since July 25. 30 Covid-19 patients have died.
