Hanoi held exhibition highlighting 60th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s stilt house
An exhibition and seminar about President Ho Chi Minh’s revolutionary life and his 60-year-old stilt house (Nha san), where the President lived during the last years of his life, opened at the Ho Chi Minh Relic Site on May 11.
Jointly organized by Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism and President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Management Board, the event is part of the activities to celebrate the 128th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh.
The exhibition displays over 200 photos and objects, focusing on topics related to the life and revolutionary career of the President.
The display depicts President Ho Chi Minh and his house in Viet Bac revolutionary base in Vietnam’s northern region and his stilt house in the Presidential Palace in Hanoi, symbol of President Ho’s thoughts, morals, and lifestyle and the spirit of national unity and international integration.
On the occasion, a workshop was also organized to promote the conservation work and value of the Ho Chi Minh relic site.
The President Ho Chi Minh relic site at the Presidential Palace was recognized as a special national relic site under the Prime Minister’s Decision in 2009 and has now become an attractive destination for numerous tourists.
After 1954, when Hanoi was liberated, Uncle Ho lived and worked in this area. The Presidential Palace of Vietnam is a large villa built by French colonialists in the early 20th century.
Because of his love of nature, Uncle Ho didn’t live in the Presidential Palace, but in a small house next to it. Uncle Ho used the Presidential Palace for diplomatic activities only.
Uncle Ho's stilt house is next to a large pond surrounded by lush orchards. In the garden, there are many rare species of fruit trees from all over the country. He grew trees and raised fish like an ordinary laborer.
After he died, the whole area including the stilt house became a relic site associated with the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.
