Hanoi hits record high temperature, streets look like in New Year holiday
On Saturday (June 3), temperature in Hanoi hit a record high of more than 40 degrees Celsius (around 104 degrees Fahrenheit).
This is the highest temperature this summer and one of the hottest days in the capital’s history. The temperature is forecasted to remain at 40 degrees Celsius or higher until the next week.
However, temperatures measured in some parts of the capital city even rose beyond 40C at 1 p.m., while the RealFeel temperature, which indicates how hot it feels outdoors, was nearly 48C.
Most of Hanoians choose to escape from the heat by staying at home, avoid going out as much as possible. In some popular streets of Hanoi, especially the pedestrian zone around Hoan Kiem Lake suddenly goes deserted. It looks like the city is in Lunar New Year’s holiday when people flee from the capital city to comeback to hometown.
