Hanoi seeks to strengthen cooperation with Japanese localities in various fields, especially in culture and education.

Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung shared the view during a meeting with outgoing Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio today [May 8].
At the meeting, Dung congratulated Ambassador Yamada Takio on successfully completing his tenure in Vietnam and making significant contributions to nurturing the strong Vietnam-Japan relationship.
Recalling notable milestones during the Ambassador's four-year term in Vietnam, the Hanoi’s Party chief emphasized the elevation of Vietnam-Japan relations to a "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World."
Affirming that building relations with Japan and Japanese localities is a priority for Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular, Dung stated that the relations between the two countries are at their best, becoming increasingly profound across all sectors.
He noted that healthcare, education, and culture are the current focus of investment in Hanoi, saying Hanoi aims to leverage cultural resources to drive the city's development.
Therefore, Dung expressed the hope that the Ambassador, upon returning home, will continue to contribute to advancing relations between Hanoi and Japanese localities, as well as between the two countries, especially in the areas of culture and education.
For his part, Ambassador Yamada Takio thanked Hanoi’s leader for his sincere remarks and highly appreciated the contributions of the local authorities to the strong Vietnam-Japan relationship. The Ambassador expressed his admiration for Hanoi's achievements in Covid-19 prevention, economic, and social development during his tenure.
According to the Takio, Hanoi plays a central role in promoting Vietnam-Japan relations, with over 1,000 Japanese businesses operating in the city. Based on this, the Ambassador hoped that the Hanoi authorities would continue to support Japanese businesses in the context of unprecedented changes in the global supply chain.
Referring to some ongoing projects in the area, Takio urged Hanoi to pay attention to resolving emerging issues to facilitate smooth project implementation. Expressing his special affection for Vietnam and Hanoi, he stated that regardless of his future position, he will continue to devote himself to nurturing the bilateral relationship and connecting Hanoi with Japanese localities, including Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefecture.
Dung agreed with the Ambassador's opinions on Japanese-funded projects in Hanoi and assured that the city would always pay attention to and support these projects.
Providing an overview of the investment project for a Japanese cultural village tourist area in Dong Anh District, Dung stated that this would be crucial infrastructure to support the lives of over 10,000 Japanese residents working and living in the area, as well as serving as a cultural exchange destination for Hanoi residents and Vietnam as a whole.
Dung expressed hope that the project will continue to receive active support from the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam.
