According to MOLISA Minister Dao Ngoc Dung, in 2016, the ministry made great efforts in job training, poverty reduction, care for people with meritorious, children protection and care and prevention of social evils.
During the year, the country created jobs for over 1,6 million people, accounting for 102.5% of the plan, thus contributing to reduce the unemployment rate of workers to 2.3%. By the end of 2016, the number of poor households dropped to about 8.58%, down by 1.3% - 1.5% compared to 2015.
Hanoi was one of the outstanding localities in well implementing the tasks of labour, invalids and social affairs, especially providing jobs for local labourers in 2016.
In the year, Hanoi created new jobs for about 151,800 people, reaching 101% of plan and effectively implemented an unemployment insurance policy. The city considered and addressed unemployment benefits for nearly 40,000 people.
Addressing the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam asked the MOLISA clearly seek employment needs as well as the number of new jobs in order to set a  data on employment and labour market management.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the ministry should strengthen  activities of the employment service centers and hold more work sessions to create opportunities for enterprises and labourers.
In 2016, over 126,000 Vietnamese labours were sent to abroad for work, reaching 126% of the plan.
To achieve the target of 50% of people at the working age joining the social insurance, the MOLISA was urged to consider the approach towards international insurance.
Once assigned by the Government to manage the country’s professional education system, the MOLISA must strive on reaching positive results in vocational training.
