Hanoi intensifies comprehensive cooperation with the localities of Canada and the US

In order to further promote the exchange of cooperation between Hanoi and other cities in the world, from June 11 to June 25, the city delegation led by Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, Deputy Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee paid a working visit to Canada and the United States.

This visit is an opportunity for Hanoi to exchange information, share experiences and promote exchanges and cooperation with other provinces and cities of Canada and the United States, on the subject matter of the Judiciary, improve the judicial efficiency of the Capital.

Immediately after arriving in Canada, from June 12, the delegation had a series of talks with Toronto's Deputy Mayor, Denzel Minnan-Wong, and the Premier of Ontario, Kathleen Wynne. At the meetings, Denzel Minnan-Wong and Kathleen Wynne shared their good impressions and feelings for Vietnam and Hanoi while appreciating the role of the Vietnamese community in Canada in general and Toronto, Ontario in particular. The province of Ontario and the City of Toronto have paid much attention to developing partnerships with Vietnamese localities, including Hanoi.

The leaders of Hanoi and Toronto, Ontario agreed to increase cooperation in investment attraction, tourism development, education and training, finance and banking, and insurance. Especially green technology, environmental protection, response to climate change.

Thanks to the sharing of details of Chief Secretary of the Supreme Court of Canada, Deputy Secretary Ngo Thi Thanh Hang together with the members of the delegation exchanged more relevant information and proposals. On June 16, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang came to work with the Washington DC Federal Justice Service, meeting with Herbert B. Dixon Jr., District Court Supreme Court of Colombia and Elizabeth Andersen, Executive Director of the American Bar Association (ABA). The delegation heard about the work of the American Bar Association in setting standards for lawyer training schools, evaluating judges and developing partnerships with lawyers around the world, Vietnamese Lawyers Association. For the Colombian Supreme Court, this is a special state court in the State of Washington DC, which is heavily invested in facilities and judges, working independently to ensure fair trial.

At the meetings, the delegation of Hanoi had the opportunity to exchange useful information and experiences on judiciary activities in the United States and to provide information related to the operation of the courts at local level of the United States.

The visit to Canada and the US by the Hanoi Senior Delegation has been a great success, contributing to the enhancement of understanding, trust and friendly relations between Hanoi and the Canadian provinces and the United States, as well as bringing valuable experience in professional work on the judiciary. The trip promises to open new opportunities for cooperation between Hanoi and Canada and the United States in the future.
