Hanoi is set to greet guests for National Day

For the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day on September 2, Hanoi is planning a variety of cultural and tourism activities to welcome domestic and international visitors.

THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi is well set to accommodate the surging influx of visitors in the latter half of 2025, offering a diverse array of cultural, culinary, and sporting events that highlight the city's rich heritage and community life, said Dang Huong Giang, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism.

Giang said one of the most special events is the four-day National Day holiday, starting from August 30, presenting a prime opportunity to attract tourists and promote Hanoi as a leading cultural and historical destination.

“To enhance Hanoi’s appeal during this significant national occasion, the city will offer new tourism experiences designed to highlight its rich heritage, cultural diversity, and local traditions,” said Giang.

Beginning in July 2025, visitors will have access to innovative experiential offerings, such as a heritage-based journey at the Ha Mo tourist site in Dan Phuong District and the “Nam Thang Long – Hanoi Heritage Road” tour through the districts of Thanh Tri, Thuong Tin, and Phu Xuyen on the outskirts of Hanoi.

Hanoi is set to introduce new tourism routes highlighting community-based and rural experiences in the city’s outskirts, offering visitors an authentic taste of local life.

In An Phu Commune, located in My Duc District, travelers will be invited to engage with the traditional cultural practices of Vietnam’s ethnic minority communities. The tours aim to promote community-based tourism, with activities that allow guests to participate in daily village life and experience local customs firsthand.

Meanwhile, in Tich Giang Commune of Phuc Tho District, the focus will shift to rural tourism, emphasizing the area’s rich agricultural heritage. Visitors will have the chance to explore farms, join farming activities, and discover how local produce is grown and harvested.

Hanoi will offer free double-decker bus services to shuttle visitors around the city’s major landmarks, providing convenient access to top attractions and easing traffic congestion in the city center during the festive period.

A highlight of this year's celebrations will be the National Day Parade in Ba Dinh Square. Nearby attractions, including President Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, the Ho Chi Minh Museum, and other key cultural and historical sites, are expected to welcome large numbers of visitors.

To ensure a smooth and safe experience, particularly for tour groups, the city will implement organized travel routes and designated entry points around high-traffic areas. Authorities also plan to enhance on-site coordination to maintain order and comfort throughout the celebrations.

The Hanoi Department of Tourism will mobilize community support to provide complimentary services to visitors, further enhancing the city’s image as a warm and hospitable destination. Travelers will also benefit from a digital tourism map, accessible via QR codes placed throughout the city, which provides real-time updates on events, services, and attractions, helping tourists navigate the capital with ease during the holiday period.

"These efforts reflect Hanoi’s commitment to projecting itself as a welcoming, dynamic, and culturally rich destination. As the capital prepares to reach this historic milestone, it invites visitors from across Vietnam and around the world to experience Hanoi's essence," said Giang.
