The contest aims to materialize the commitments made by the Hanoi People's Committee with UNESCO on implementing activities to build Hanoi into a creative city.
As it seeks new and unique ideas, creative designs and products based on state-of-the-art technology, human resources as well as historical and cultural values of Hanoi, the submissions must be unique in designs with the potential of making breakthroughs in urban space development.
The total prize money would be up to VND200 million (US$8,700). High-quality work will be exhibited and innovative ideas will be brought to life.
The director of Hanoi's Department of Culture and Sports, Do Dinh Hong, said that finding new values, designs and products will create momentum to develop the creative economy, part of the scheme of realizing Hanoi's goals of becoming a creative hub of Southeast Asia, a destination for knowledge and creativity in the world.
The contest was launched throughout the Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts and the organizers expect 1,000 to 2,000 students in different disciplines would participate with 6,000 and 8,000 works.
The contest will run until November 2023 and selected works will be displayed at the Hanoi Innovation Week 2022, which is slated to take place this November.
In addition, the organizers also expect this contest to connect students with units, organizations and individuals who are in need of designers.
On this occasion, the Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts and the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports signed a cooperation program to promote activities in the field of creative design and the development of cultural industries in the capital.
