The program is jointly organized by the Kinh Te&Do Thi Newspaper and the Hanoi Department of Natural Resources and Environment.
The launching ceremony of a communication program on environmental protection in Hanoi was held on April 24.
The program aims to raise awareness and responsibility for environmental protection at all levels, sectors, organizations, and individuals, proactively respond to climate change, and improve people's quality of life for the sustainable development of the capital city, among other goals and objectives set out in Resolution 11 of the municipal Party Committee.

Through communication activities, the program will introduce people, organizations, models, experiences, and solutions on technologies and eco-friendly products and encourage residents to participate in environmental protection.
Nguyen Thanh Loi, Editor-in-Chief of Economic and Urban Newspaper and head of the program's organizing committee, said that based on the success of Hanoi's environmental protection writing contest, the newspaper had received approval from Hanoi authorities to upgrade it into an environmental protection communication program.
The program consists of a writing contest on environmental protection in Hanoi and communication events on the subject.
These events include seminars and lectures on environmental protection and other activities in schools and residential areas to warn about the risks of climate change and the responsibility of environmental protection in the city.
At the opening ceremony, Loi called for the cooperation and participation of people, experts, enterprises, and reporters, together with the organizing committee, to multiply environmental protection actions to make the capital green, clean, beautiful, and civilized.
According to the organizing committee, the writing contest on environmental protection in Hanoi in 2023 will be based on the following themes: reflecting and praising organizations and individuals who have outstanding activities and advanced models in protecting the environment,

Other topics include the introduction of advanced models, technical initiatives, new solutions and ideas on environmental protection and climate change response, reflecting problems in air, land, and water pollution; noise and solid waste management; hazardous waste, behaviors that cause environmental degradation and pollution, the destruction of natural landscapes and ecosystems as well as threats to the public health community and sustainable development of the capital.
Entries submitted to the contest will cover research, reportage, interview, and long-form published in print and online versions in the Economic and Urban Newspaper and the central and municipal newspapers from July 1, 2022, to August 31, 2023.
The selected works will be awarded at the prize-giving ceremony to be held in November.
