Hanoi launches the 11th International Dental Exhibition and Congress
Vietnam International Dental Exhibition & Congress is a major and prestigious dental event in the region and the world.
The 11th Vietnam International Dental Exhibition & Congress (VIDEC 11) opened in Hanoi on August 22 and will run until August 24, offering a wide range of dental products by the world’s leading producers.
The conference saw the attendance of Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh and Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien.
The conference was jointly organized by the Vietnam Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Central Odonto-Dentistry Hospital of Hanoi and International Dental Federation.
According to Prof. Dr. Trinh Dinh Hai, director of the Central Odonto-Dentistry Hospital of Hanoi, chairman of the Vietnam Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, head of the VIDEC 11 organizing board, said that this is a prestigious and large dental event in the region and the world.
Over 3,000 delegates are attending the conference, of whom more than 300 international delegates come from 25 countries. There are 350 exhibition booths, introducing the famous dental products of the world's leading manufacturers.
The conference has 28 scientific sessions at five locations: Hanoi Friendship Palace, Hanoi Nikko Hotel, Hanoi Daewoo Hotel, Vietnam Trade Union Hotel and the Central Odonto-Dentistry Hospital of Hanoi.
Speaking at the conference, Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien said together with the development of the health sector in recent years, the field of odonto-dentistry has made breakthrough advances.
Specifically, the network of specialized dental clinics has been expanded and upgraded from grassroots level to central level. Odonto-dentistry hospitals nationwide have developed many advanced techniques in line with the region and the world, such as facial and skull surgery, orthopedic surgery, dental implantation, etc, Tien added.
Thanks to the successful implementation of many modern techniques, Vietnam has attracted tens of thousands of foreigners for treatment, she said.
There have been various preventative dental programs launched for children in many cities and provinces nationwide, she added.
In 2011, Vietnam was the first country in Asia to use fluoridated salt to prevent cavities in Lao Cai province. The program has been recognized by the World Health Organization and appreciated by other countries, Tien said.
The Vietnam International Dental Exhibition and Congress offers a good opportunity for dentists and scientists to share experience, cutting-edge technologies, and new information in dentistry, the Minister noted.
Through the conference, the Minister hopes that the team of dentists will take advantage of the opportunity to exchange, discuss and update the useful information to serve the medical examination and better treatment for Vietnamese people.
