The 2016 Tan Vien Son Thanh festival, which was held by the People`s Committee of Ba Vi district, kicked off in Minh Quang commune, Ba Vi district, Hanoi on February 21.
On the same day, the district also launched tourism season 2016.
Attending the opening ceremony were Deputy Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee, Chairwoman of the municipal People's Council Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc and many tourists.
The annual festival is organised to commemorate Tan Vien Son Thanh - one of the four immortals in traditional Vietnamese mythology.
The 9th festival takes place in two days from February 20-21 (14th and 15th days of the first lunar month) with many important ceremonies.
The Tan Vien Son Thanh festival that includes the traditional rituals, folk games as well as other cultural exchanges attracted numerous local resident and visitors.
Beside a system of cultural historic relics and unique traditional festivals, Ba Vi district owns famous ecological landscapes and popular tourist destinations such as Ao Vua, Thien Son - Suoi Nga, Suoi Hai, Ba Vi National Park.
The district is home to some relic sites worshipping Tan Vien Son Thanh, including three temples of Thuong, Trung and Ha- the sacred destinations that welcome tens of thousands of tourists yearly.
Ba Vi has built a line-up of tourism sites and diversified tourism products to attract more tourists.
In addition to ecological tourism, Ba Vi district also thrives on developing spiritual tourism, community-based tourism and resort tourism, agricultural tourism and MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention and Exhibition) tourism.
Ba Vi district strives to receive 2.6 million visitors and reach 250 billion VND from tourism revenue in 2016.
