Hanoi pedestrian zone extends opening hours for National Holiday

The pedestrian zone around Hoan Kiem Lake and attractions in the Old Quarter will be open to the public during the upcoming four-day national holiday.

Tourist spots and pedestrian streets in the Old Quarter, in Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi will be open from 19:00 to 00:00 every day from August 30 to September 3 during the National Day holiday.

The Hoan Kiem District has stepped up its efforts to ensure public hygiene, enforce traffic regulations, and maintain urban order during the holiday.

Earlier, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs announced that Vietnam's National Day holiday will be observed from August 31 to September 3 this year.

Civil servants are subject to four consecutive days off.

Since 1997, the walking area around Hoan Kiem Lake and surrounding areas in downtown Hanoi has become a brand, a cultural avenue, and a highlight of the capital city.

Covering an area of more than 25 streets and alleys in the Old Quarter, the pedestrian zone is closed to traffic from Friday night to Sunday midnight.

It helps to boost the tourism industry, create a new lifestyle for Hanoi's people, and promote the capital's image as a UNESCO City for Peace.
