The Hanoi People's Committee has had a meeting with the General Department of Vocational Education under the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs on the plan to reorganize colleges and job training schools in the city.
Currently, Hanoi has 10 vocational schools and 11 colleges.
The project has been carefully prepared for a long time, based on specific principles and criteria of enrollments, training, geographic location, distance between schools, and graduate employability.
General Director of the General Department of Vocational Education Truong Anh Dung emphasized that his agency has been carrying out the merger, dissolution and upgrading of colleges and vocational schools aggressively.
The merger needs careful consideration, taking into account the contingent of managerial staff, teachers and the fields of training, and should be executed step by step.
It must take into account the enrollment and training scale in the immediate period and subsequent years. Merging is not just about reducing the number of training institutions.
Therefore, Dung stressed that the criteria for merging schools must be based on current practices and regulations. There should be a gradual roadmap which will be carefully implemented and evaluated.
